Course Overview

About Course

Modern systems developers increasingly leverage Rust, Go, and C++ to build fast, safe, and scalable software. This 40‑hour training empowers developers to master all three languages side by side—understanding their unique strengths, idioms, standards, and inter-operability.

We begin with setup for all three ecosystems—Cargo, Go modules, and CMake—and write basic programs to explore tooling and compilation. Module 2 aligns syntax and semantics, highlighting how Go offers simplicity while Rust and C++ emphasize control and performance

Core data structures and memory-affecting paradigms are contrasted: Rust’s ownership and borrow checker, Go’s garbage-collected slices/maps, and C++’s pointer-based containers. Error handling is then explored—Rust’s Result, Go’s error, and C++ exceptions—emphasizing safety and clarity. Concurrency training spans Rust threads/channels, Go goroutines with select, and C++ standard threading with atomics.

Abstraction forms are compared: Rust traits and generics, Go interfaces for duck typing, and C++ templates plus OOP. The interoperability module introduces FFI, enabling cross-language calls—calling high-performance C++ modules from Rust or Go.

Tooling across all three is emphasized: testing frameworks, linters/formatters (Clippy, go fmt, clang-format), and performance diagnostic tools. Case-study modules cover applying Rust for systems/microservices, Go for backend services, and C++ for compute-heavy applications.

A language-integrated capstone unifies learning: a modular CLI or service with Rust logic, Go REST API, and C++ compute module. Through testing, profiling, and cross-language binding, participants gain hands-on experience deploying multi-language solutions.

This training incorporates live labs, debugging sessions, and expert instruction. With a year’s access to materials, code repos, and community support, developers gain a well-rounded, portfolio-ready skill set. Graduates will confidently tackle roles in systems engineering, backend microservices, DevOps tooling, and high-performance computing—armed with versatility across three powerful language ecosystems.

Course Syllabus

Module 1: Setup & Language Runtime Essentials (4 hrs)

  • Install toolchains: rustup/Cargo, Go SDK and go mod, C++ (gcc/clang & CMake).
  • Build “Hello World” in each and explore compiler/tooling basics.

Module 2: Syntax & Basic Constructs (6 hrs)

  • Learn types, variables, operators, control flow across three languages.
  • Compare Go’s simplicity (e.g., lack of inheritance) to Rust/C++ complexity

Module 3: Data Structures & Memory Models (6 hrs)

  • Rust: ownership, borrowing, lifetimes.
  • Go: slices, maps, structs.
  • C++: pointers, arrays, STL containers.

Module 4: Error Handling Paradigms (4 hrs)

  • Rust’s Result vs Go’s error returns vs C++ exceptions.
  • Learn error-propagation idioms in each.

Module 5: Concurrency & Parallelism (6 hrs)

  • Rust: threads, channels.
  • Go: goroutines, channels, select.
  • C++: threads and atomics.
  • Debate memory safety vs ease of concurrency.

Module 6: Functions, Interfaces & Templates (6 hrs)

  • Rust traits/generics, Go interfaces, C++ templates/OOP.
  • Compare static vs dynamic dispatch patterns, and generics in Rust vs templates.

Module 7: Interoperability & FFI (3 hrs)

  • Use FFI to call C/C++ from Rust and Go.
  • Practice basic cross-language bindings.

Module 8: Tooling, Testing & Performance (4 hrs)

  • Rust: Cargo, Clippy, unit tests.
  • Go: go test, profiling.
  • C++: CMake, gtest, sanitizers and performance benchmarking.

Module 9: Ecosystem & Use-Case Deep Dives (4 hrs)

  • Rust for systems/apps: microservices.
  • Go for backend servers and DevOps tools.
  • C++ for high-performance computing & legacy systems.

Module 10: Capstone Project (1 hr initial + integrated)

  • Build a multi-component CLI/service mixing languages:
    • Rust core logic
    • Go HTTP/REST wrapper
    • C++ performance module
  • Emphasize inter-language FFI, testing, concurrency, and performance.

  • Key Features

    • Hands-on comparative labs: write similar programs in all three languages to understand trade-offs.
    • Live expert-led sessions with Q&A and side-by-side debugging.
    • Project-based delivery, culminating in an integrated multi-language capstone.
    • Emphasis on idiomatic usage of ownership, interfaces, templates, and error patterns.
    • Tooling training across package managers, linters, formatters, test frameworks, and profilers.
    • Real-world use case modules: microservices (Rust), backend API (Go), numeric/high-performance (C++).
    • 12-month access: code repositories, session recordings, and a developer community.
