Course Overview
About Course
This 40‑hour REST API training guides developers through mastering API design, implementation, and operation. Beginning with foundational concepts—REST constraints, HTTP methods, and status codes—learners gain a solid understanding of resource modeling and idempotence. The curriculum progresses into API design best practices: URI structures, pagination, filtering, error conventions, and hypermedia-driven services (HATEOAS).
Security is thoroughly addressed through token-based approaches (JWT, OAuth2), HTTPS setup, and common vulnerability prevention. Development is hands-on across popular frameworks—Python, Node.js, Java—with strong tooling support via Postman, Newman, Swagger/OpenAPI, and RAML. Participants build fully functional CRUD endpoints, managing JSON/XML payloads and validation.
Testing is a highlight: unit, integration, and automated Postman pipeline tests ensure reliability. Documentation standards and lifecycle management are covered using API gateways like Apigee and Mulesoft. Performance modules explore caching, throttling, and load testing to optimize API responsiveness.
Deployment focuses on modern, containerized delivery with Docker and cloud services, and monitoring using logging and metrics. The capstone experience consolidates learning through a complete project—designing, coding, securing, testing, documenting, and deploying an API—alongside peer reviews. Graduates emerge equipped to design scalable, secure RESTful services, manage their lifecycle onboard API platforms, and confidently tackle real-world API challenges in professional environments.
