Course Overview
About Course
The 40-hour Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Training equips engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and operations managers with practical skills for designing, implementing, and securing industrial systems. It begins with a foundation in IIoT concepts versus standard IoT, paired with an Industry 4.0 framework that highlights how connected devices transform manufacturing and infrastructure
Building on theory, the course dives into Operational Technology, covering PLCs, SCADA and DCS systems that form the backbone of manufacturing automation . This intel is reinforced with labs simulating real-world PLC–SCADA data flows and control logic. Participants then explore industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, Modbus, OPC-UA, and LPWAN systems with hands-on traffic monitoring and configuration labs .
Edge computing is introduced next, with focus on gateway deployment and lightweight data preprocessing near devices. Data pipelines are constructed to enable predictive maintenance via real-time analytics supported by anomaly detection using Jupyter notebooks. These insights are grounded in IIoT-specific research demonstrating machine learning’s power in industrial anomaly detection .
Security permeates the curriculum through a comprehensive treatment of IoT threat vectors, device hardening, secure firmware, and multifaceted defence aligned with IEC 62443 and SESIP standards . Learners actively engage in threat modeling, secure configuration, and segmentation labs. Advanced detection modules incorporate ML-based IDS and forensic analysis to spot anomalies and respond to simulated incidents .
The final cloud integration module covers ingestion to enterprise systems using AWS, Azure, and IBM Watson IoT—closing the loop on hybrid-edge-cloud IIoT architectures . The capstone integrates all modules in a red-team style CTF challenge, requiring teams to architect a secure IIoT deployment, defend it under attack, and respond with forensic rigor.
With live lab-based learning (>60%), industry-standard frameworks, and certification-aligned content, graduates emerge ready to lead IIoT implementations, secure critical infrastructure, and leverage data intelligence within modern industrial environments.
