Course Overview
About Course
This 40‑hour InfoSphere DataStage training empowers participants to design, develop, and deploy robust ETL solutions for enterprise data integration. Starting with foundational data warehousing and ETL principles—such as star schemas, OLAP vs OLTP, and Slowly Changing Dimensions—learners quickly immerse themselves in DataStage’s architecture and components (Designer, Director, Administrator).
Hands-on modules cover end-to-end data workflows: from reading and writing various file formats, mastering large data handling, to leveraging relational databases via optimized database stages. Transformation skills deepen as students implement joins, lookups, aggregations, pivots, and advanced stage variables. Parallel job construction, using techniques like pipeline and partition parallelism across SMP/MPP environments, ensures high-performance ETL.
Workflow control with Sequencer modules develops production-grade automation, triggers, error mitigation, and scheduling via DSJob utilities. Exception handling, data cleansing integration, and governance are addressed using exception stages and standardization powered by IBM’s Data Quality tools. The training concludes with deployment best practices through Information Server Manager, monitoring via operations console, and performance tuning—buffer sizing, logging, and job optimization.
With over 70% of the course dedicated to practical lab work, participants complete real-world projects like inventory control and student record ETL pipelines, guided by expert mentors and peer reviews. Equipped with sample scripts, session recordings, and certification-aligned support, graduates exit the training ready for DataStage Developer or Administrator roles, capable of delivering high-quality, scalable data integration solutions in enterprise settings.
