About Course
SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) is a powerful ETL and data integration platform used by enterprises to consolidate, cleanse, and transform data from diverse sources—including SAP ECC, BW, HANA, cloud, and flat files—into a unified analytical repository. BODS stands out for its data profiling, quality control, CDC, and tight integration with SAP systems
This 40-hour training immerses participants in both conceptual and practical aspects of BODS. Learners begin with understanding the BODS architecture, setting up development environments, and mastering repository management (central vs. local). They are guided through real-world ETL pipelines: extracting data, refining it using platform, integrator, and quality transforms, and loading it into target systems. Core features like data cleansing, address matching, geocoding, CDC-SCD, error handling, and data validation are taught via hands-on labs
Advanced modules cover scripting, conditional flows, parallel job execution, and performance tuning via pushdown optimization. Integration sessions teach data extraction methodologies from SAP ECC/BW and loading to SAP HANA column store with SQL preview capabilities . Metadata management is enhanced through Information Steward to enforce data governance and lineage visibility.
Participants complete a robust capstone project: designing a complete ETL job from source extraction through transformations, data quality, CDC implementation, and final load into HANA/BW. An included certification prep session provides mock tests and scenario-based interview readiness
Graduates emerge as proficient BODS developers or data engineers capable of implementing enterprise-grade data integration, data quality, and profiling solutions in SAP-centric landscapes, ready for roles like ETL Specialist, Data Migration Consultant, or Business Data Architect.

Module 1: Introduction & Architecture (3 hrs)
- Overview of BODS as SAP’s ETL/data integration tool
- Architecture: designer, repository (local/central), job servers, management console
Module 2: BODS Designer & Repository Concepts (4 hrs)
- Using Data Services Designer: projects, workflows, dataflows
- Repository management: local vs central, check-in/out, versioning
Module 3: Datastores & File Formats (3 hrs)
- Configuring datastores: DB, SAP, flat-file, XML, Excel
- Flat-file formats and COBOL support
Module 4: Batch Job Creation & Execution (4 hrs)
- Designing jobs and workflows, scheduling, execution properties, tracing
Module 5: Transforms – Platform, Data Integrator, Data Quality (6 hrs)
- Platform transforms: query, case, merge, validation, SQL, XML
- Data integrator transforms: pivot, reverse-pivot, key-generation, CDC, table-compare
- Data quality transforms: address cleanse, match, geocoding
Module 6: Scripting, Variables & Functions (3 hrs)
- Using built-in and custom functions, scripts, variables, loops, exception handling
Module 7: CDC & Slowly Changing Dimensions (3 hrs)
- Implementing CDC (source/target-based) and SCD types 1 & 2
Module 8: Data Profiling & Assessment (3 hrs)
- Using Data Services profiler, validation transforms, metadata assessment
Module 9: Error Handling & Recovery (3 hrs)
- Workflow-level try/catch, recoverability, auditing, trace logs
Module 10: Multi-User Collaboration (2 hrs)
- Central repository usage, synchronization, deployment best practices
Module 11: SAP ECC/BW/HANA Integration (4 hrs)
- Extract from ECC (tables, extractors, ABAP), loading into BW/HANA
Module 12: Performance Tuning & Optimization (3 hrs)
- Pushdown optimization, parallel execution, tuning properties
Module 13: Real-Time & Batch Processing (2 hrs)
- Configuring real-time job execution, batch scheduling, and monitoring
Module 14: SAP HANA & BODS Integration (2 hrs)
- Loading data to HANA column store, datastore setup, SQL preview
Module 15: Information Steward & Metadata Management (1 hr)
- Using Information Steward for data insight, lineage, and metadata governance
Module 16: Capstone Project & Certification Prep (1 hr)
- End-to-end job: extract-transform-load-quality checks into HANA/BW
- Mock certification review and job-interview toolkit
