Course Overview
About Course
SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform (BIP), often called the on-premises layer of SAP analytics, consolidates data reporting, visualization, and enterprise sharing via a robust, multi-tier architecture. As part of SAP Business Technology Platform, it supports scalability—from small teams to thousands of users—and integrates with HANA and BW
This 40‑hour training covers the full spectrum: from architecture and installation to advanced usage and certification readiness. Foundational modules explore core components—CMS, Adaptive Processing Server, Web tier—and establish best practices for system setup and clustering . Learners gain hands-on experience installing the BI suite, configuring server nodes, and securing access through CMC.
Security and permissions modules teach granular user/group management, audit setups, and authentication mechanisms such as LDAP and SSO . The training also includes detailed walkthroughs of report design tools—Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Lumira, and Analysis for Office—enabling users to build interactive dashboards and pixel-perfect reports
A critical component is the semantic layer: universe creation via Information Design Tool (IDT), forging business-friendly metadata models suited for reporting and analysis Scheduling and alerting labs ensure reports are distributed automatically, with real-time notifications for critical updates .
Performance-focused segments guide participants through monitoring and tuning methodologies, including server log analysis, workload balancing, and adaptive engine optimization. Integration sessions detail connections to BW, HANA, relational databases, and external sources .
The capstone project simulates a full lifecycle: environment setup, secure configuration, universe design, report creation, scheduling, and delivery. Certification modules prepare attendees for BOE310 (Administration & Security) and BOE320 (Server Admin) through mock exams and scenario-based drills
Graduates emerge ready for roles like SAP BIP Administrator, BI Solution Architect, or Report Developer, equipped with practical skills to design, deploy, secure, and maintain enterprise-grade BI reporting platforms, as well as to guide organizations through analytics modernization with BusinessObjects.
