Course Overview
About Course
Microsoft Purview Training equips IT professionals, security engineers, and data governance teams to comprehensively manage and safeguard enterprise data. Spanning 40 hours, the program begins with setting up a Purview account, understanding licensing, and exploring the unified governance portal. Participants learn to register data sources, orchestrate cataloging and scans, develop a data map, and visualize lineage and glossary insights. The core modules guide learners through creating sensitive information types, custom sensitivity labels, and automated labeling policies to implement classification and encryption strategies. Training then delves into Data Loss Prevention (DLP), teaching policy creation, endpoint protections, OCR usage, classifier implementations, and alert/reporting mechanisms. To address insider threats, modules cover configuring insider-risk policies, communication compliance, and information barriers. Lifecycle and compliance management are addressed through eDiscovery setup, retention labeling, records management, and disposal practices. The final part of the course focuses on integrating Purview with broader data ecosystems—using Azure Data Factory and CluedIn for master data governance, advanced scripting via REST API, PowerShell, and SDKs, and integrating with Defender XDR and Security Copilot. Combining instructor-led lectures, hands-on labs, real-world exercises, and certification readiness, this Purview Training ensures attendees can architect, implement, and maintain an enterprise-grade data governance, protection, and compliance framework.
