Course Overview
About Course
Core DBA Training is a 40‑hour immersive program designed to cover the essentials of database administration across different platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL). It begins with hands‑on learning of DBA responsibilities—installing and configuring database servers on Linux or Windows—establishing a foundation in instance tuning and storage architecture
The curriculum emphasizes security and access control, including user management, roles, privileges, auditing, and encryption. These core topics ensure secure and compliant database environments. Backup and recovery modules teach full, incremental, and log-based recovery strategies, along with scripting and testing for point-in-time restoration scenarios.
Participants learn to manage storage and space, configuring tablespaces, planning growth, and optimizing disk usage. Performance training involves monitoring key metrics (CPU, I/O, waits), optimizing queries with indexes, execution plans, and statistics, while also addressing concurrency issues and deadlock resolution.
For high availability, students explore clustering, mirroring, and replication tools like GoldenGate or native DBMS solutions. They’ll also automate maintenance and monitoring tasks using scripts and scheduling tools to ensure reliability and consistency. Courses on data migration and upgrades cover schema migration, backups, and patching safely across environments.
The program builds tool proficiency using GUI platforms—SSMS, SQL Developer, MySQL Workbench—and CLI tools for scripting and advanced troubleshooting. Troubleshooting best practices guide learners through diagnosing issues using logs, metrics, and real-world scenarios.
The training concludes with a capstone project, where learners architect and deploy a production-grade database server, configure security and HA, automate backups, and optimize performance—presenting their work to peers for feedback. Graduates will leave with both practical experience and documentation—a strong foundation for careers as Database Administrators, Systems DBAs, or Data Engineers, equipped to manage, secure, and optimize database environments professionally.
